BIRTH OF A CHAMPION

Creation of NJSA 04

NJSA 04 (New Jersey Soccer Academy) was formed with 3 teams in Aberdeen, NJ in February of 2004 by Jay Teitelbaum (Holmdel), Joe Tetro (Marlboro), Anna Reidy (Holmdel) and Tab Ramos (Holmdel).
It was initially built around 4 teams whose players were already being developed together by the founders. They were the Holmdel Bulldogs who became NJSA 04 Santos, then a combination of the Holmdel Blue Devils and Howell Cobras made the NJSA 04 Gunners, and the Old Bridge X-treme became the NJSA 04 Celtic.
Then 2 more teams were added through tryouts in May to start the first competitive season with 5 teams. 
 
 
2004-05, 5 teams (3 original teams, 2 tryout teams the first season)
2005-06, 7 teams (4 new tryouts only 2 new teams)
2006-07, 8 teams (including our first girls team, the NJSA 04 Power)
2007-08, 11 teams (6 boys and 5 girls)
2008-09, 16 teams (8 boys & 8 girls)
2009-10, 18 Teams (9 boys & 8 girls)
2010-11, 21 Teams (18 in area, 3 in Highland)
