The U13B NJSA04 Inter won their age group at the First NJSA04 Ultimate Labor Day Tournament. On the first day of the tournament the boys lost to the current NY State Cup Champions FC Westchester in a hard fought 1-0 game. On Sunday the boys advanced to the semi-finals against the New York Soccer Club of CT. The boys took an early lead but were unable to hold it and the game was tied at the end of regulation. The overtime halves went back and forth and also ended in a tie. The semi-final game went to penalty kicks. During the penalty kicks, Greg Reimer, was able to stop 3 shots and the boys won and advanced to the finals. Again, the boys faced the team from Westchester for the Championship. The Inter took the lead on a cross from Cameron which was headed into the goal by Speedy. FC Westchester would not go down quietly and came back and tied the score at 1 a piece. With time running down in the game, Westchester was awarded a penalty kick. Again, Greg came up big and stopped the shot. The game was tied at the end of regulation and also at the end of the overtime period. Once again, the Inter went to PK’s. As was the story of the tournament, our goalie came up big and stopped a PK. Speedy then CLINCHED the title, putting his PK in the back of the net and the Inter were Champions.
