PROGRAM OUTLINE
 
NJSA 04 is proud to announce the Junior Development Academy (JDA) Spring Program.
 
JDA is geared for players ages U5 - U9, the Junior Development Academy will create a positive learning environment for players to learn, while being trained by professional coaches who are at the forefront of coaching youth soccer.
  
Under the guidance of Antonio Meza, NJSA 04 Director of Coaching and Simon Muckle technical coordinator, the Junior Development Academy program will provide appropriate training while developing the technical and tactical knowledge of the young player.
 
Not driven by performance measures such as wins or loses, but by achieving knowledge and understanding of the concepts of soccer, this is a fantastic opportunity for young players to experience the game as it should be, by focusing on the individual player.
 

 

 

 
2013 Spring Program.

Due to the massive success of the Winter Junior Development Academy Clinics, NJSA 04 is expanding its Junior Development Academy Program this spring season. During the spring, The JDA program will be expanded to last 8 weeks. JDA players will participate in 1 practice session during the week and 1 game session on a weekend (a total of 16 sessions). Players will also be given a “Junior Development Academy” Training Tee Shirt.

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the Tab Ramos Sports Center (TRSC), Howell Oak Glenn Park, Saint John Vianney HS, Matawan HS and NJSA 04 athletic/sports program, and related events and activities, the under signed:
1.     Agrees that the parent(s) or legal guardian will instruct the minor participant that prior to participating he or she should inspect the facilities or equipment to be used and if the participant believes anything is unsafe, he or she should immediately advise his or her coach to supervisor of such condition(s) and refuse to participate.
2.     Acknowledges and fully understand that each participant will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death, and severe social and economic losses which might result not only from their own action, inactions or negligence but the action, inaction or negligence of others, the rules of play or the condition of the premises or any equipment used. Further, that there may be other risks not known to us or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.

NJSA 04 is proud to announce an affiliation with the NJ Stallions.  This official alliance will have two of the Premier NJ Clubs working together in the USSDA, US Soccer Development Academy system.  Antonio Meza, Director of Coaching for NJSA 04, will join forces with Marcelo Fracchia, Director of Coaching for the Stallions, in identifying top NJ Stallions players for the North East Pre-Academy and US Soccer Development Academy level of play. 
With the announcement our club enters into a new phase combining advanced level training that has become a hallmark of NJSA 04 with an opportunity for NJ Stallions players to play at the highest level of competition in the the country.
The partnership between NJ Stallions and US Soccer Development Academy member, NJSA 04 will strengthen a continuing effort to bring the highest level of training available to Northern New Jersey.  The combined program will provide serious soccer players one more opportunity to continue on their quest to play soccer at the highest level.
The NJ Stallions are excited to move into the future with a top Academy like NJSA 04, and are confident that the partnership will set the standard in player development.

NJSA 04’s TWO U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY TEAMS
HAD A DOMINANT WEEKEND. 
 
  • NJSA 04’s two Academy teams had a dominant weekend, each posting a pair of victories against D.C. United and the Virginia Rush in Atlantic Division play. For the U-15/16s, Shaun Keegan scored all three goals as NJSA blanked D.C. United 1-0 on Saturday and rallied past the Virginia Rush 2-1 on Sunday. NJSA’s U-17/18 team has now posted four straight shutout victories following a 1-0 win against D.C. United on Saturday and a 4-0 rout of the Virginia Rush the next day. Austin Lenart had the game’s lone goal against D.C. and Greg Seifert’s second-minute tally against the Virginia Rush held up as the game-winner.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The career and accomplishments of NC State Hall of Athletic Fame inductee Tab Ramos are another glowing example of the University’s mission as a global educational institution.

At 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds, Ramos has been heralded as one of the most talented players to ever put on a Men’s National Team kit.

“Tab Ramos was ahead of his time,” noted Alexi Lalas, a former teammate and current ESPN commentator. “His first step was the stuff of legends. His touch was delicate and poetic and the power he generated from such a small frame was nuclear.”

The three-time All-America midfielder became an official United States citizen in 1982 prior to his entrance to NC State in 1984.

Ramos’ interest in soccer was cultivated at an early age. His father played professionally in Uruguay before the family moved to New Jersey. There he attended Saint Benedict’s Prep. and played club soccer along with one of his childhood friends -- John Harkes.
Both Ramos and Harkes were inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005.

“The Hall of Fame is so far beyond anything you can dream about that to say that I had a dream about this would be an outright lie,” said. Ramos

Being elected to the NC State Hall of Athletic Fame is also an honor that falls right in line with his distinguished collegiate, Olympic and professional career. And it hits his heart because of his allegiance to NC State.

Ramos is a die-hard Wolfpack alum visits the campus and new facility as much as possible when he’s not traveling the world with his soccer connections.

“I always follow the Wolfpack in all sports. I love the Wolfpack,“ he told Tim Peeler in an exclusive interview. “Even though I am kind of far away, I am a big fan of everything NC State does.”

At age 15, Ramos was on the National Team at the Under-20 level, and as the youngest on the team scored two goals in qualifying for the 1983 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

At age 17, Ramos was cut from the 1984 US Olympic Team after the Olympic Committee allowed professionals to compete. But that disappointment didn’t stop Ramos from continuing to hone his skills as he returned to the Olympic Team 4 years later and competed in the 1988 games in Seoul, South Korea.

At Saint Benedict’s, Ramos was Parade Magazine’s 1983 National Prep Player of the Year – leading the school to the New Jersey state championship. He scored 161 career goals at Saint Benedict’s, a New Jersey State record which still stands today.

Ramos turned down an opportunity to play professional soccer in the now defunct North American Soccer League after being drafted 10th in the 1st round by the New York Cosmos. Instead he chose to attend State on scholarship en route to a brilliant collegiate career from 1984-87.

At State, Ramos shined – earning All-American honors in 1985, 86 and 87. He also was named first team All-ACC in 1985, ’86, and ’87. He was named to the All-ACC second team in 1984.
Ramos was named to the All-South team during his four seasons and was the most valuable player on the 1987 Pack squad which finished as runners-up in the first-ever ACC tournament.

The Wolfpack made four NCAA appearances during his illustrious collegiate career.

A team player, Ramos scored 104 career points (6th), 42 career assists (2nd) and 31 career goals (10th).

Another accolade for Ramos was being chosen as the 1990 US Soccer Federation Athlete of the Year.

He was a three-time member of the US World Cup Team in 1990, ’94 and ’98. All-in-all, he appeared in 81 games for the U.S.National Team.

Ramos was a major player in putting US Soccer on the national stage. He is delighted that those World Cup teams in the ‘90s propelled the US from being doormats to competitive squads.

He was named to the ACC’s 50th Men’s Soccer team and was the first player to sign a contract in the MLS, on January 3, 1995. Ramos participated in 121 games for the NY/NJ Metro Stars, 1996-2002.

Years after leaving NC State, Ramos earned his Liberal Arts degree in Foreign Language and Literature between the times he left the University to compete nationally and professionally. He left in 1988 to compete in the Summer Olympics and briefly again in 1989 for national competition.

After taking correspondence courses, Ramos procured his degree in 2001.

Ramos’ retirement ended a brilliant prep, collegiate and professional career. He then began an unbelievable jaunt in the promotion of American soccer.

The Tab Ramos Sports Center in Aberdeen, New Jersey, is fulfilling his dream of promoting youth soccer . The multi-sport 55,000 square-foot building includes a hockey rink and a full-sized soccer field with artificial turf with a bar, lounge and arcade and more importantly host the New Jersey Soccer Academy (NJSA 04) one of the more recognized academies nationwide.

In addition, Ramos has enjoyed coaching his son Alex (17) and daughter Kristen (15) on youth teams.

The former prolific Wolfpacker is also the head coach of the US Under-20 National Team. “I’m excited and committed to being part of the progress for US Soccer and thebest players in the country going forward.”

Today, Ramos is a nationally-reknowned speaker and travels the U.S. and World promoting the sport he started playing as a kid in Montevideo, Uruguay.

NJSA 04 and Dr. Bhattacharya Team Up to Care for Our NJSA 04 Players
 
 
 
Sports Injuries can be very serious. NJSA 04 has teamed up with Dr. Bhattacharya, a double board certified Plastic Surgeon, with over 15 years of experience, to ensure that immediate medical attention is available to our players who may need specialized care due to a soccer injury.
 
Dr. Bhattacharya specializes in aesthetic and facial reconstructive surgery, as well as breast reconstructive surgery for cancer patients. He has taught at UMDNJ-NJ Medical School and at SUNY-Brooklyn as a Clinical Professor of Surgery. Currently, he practices out of Freehold at Plastic Surgery Plus MediSpa.

Dr. Bhattacharya is also Chief of Plastic Surgery at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey.   He is also the founder of the Bhattacharya Foundation for Medical Excellence and has been a supporter of NJSA 04 for over 4 years.   He looks forward to serving the needs of our players.

NJSA 04 Reach Elite U15/16 US Soccer Development Academy Championship Playoffs
 
For the first since its' acceptance in the USSDA, NJSA 04 U15/16 US Soccer DevelopmentAcademy team,based in Aberdeen, NJ and coached BY THE current U.S. U-20 National Team Head Coach,Tab Ramos and DOC Antonio Mezamade the US Soccer Development Academy Play-offs! NJSA04U15/16 US Soccer Development Academy team qualified for first time tocompetein the Academy playoffs in Dallas, Texas June 25-29, 2012 by earning a Wild Card Entry behind outstanding season play throughout 2011-12.
 
In Dallas, NJSA 04 U15/16 US Soccer Development Academy Team played extremely well tying two of theteamsin their playoff groupwith their onlyloss coming against GroupChampionCrewSoccer Academy U15/U16 of Columbus, Ohio. Highlights of the NJSA 04 U15/16 US Soccer Development Academy team includes an outstanding goal from Conor Nichols to tie the game 1 - 1 vs Texan SC Houston. Alex Ramos got on the scoreboard in the final game to give NJSA 04 an 1-0 lead vs Shattuck - Saint Mary's Soccer Academy (with final score a tie at 1-1).
 
"It was a great experience for us (NJSA 04), competing at the highest level with the best (teams) from around the country. "We are very happy to see that our work showed great results in Dallas, giving us the confidence and motivation to continue in the direction that we are improving our program and creating the right environment possible for the betterment of our players, " said NJSA 04 Director of Coaching Antonio Meza.

This weekend, Embrace Kids Foundation was the beneficiary of a kids soccer tournament held at the Tab Ramos Sports Center in Matawan. We want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the 2012 Futbol Fest event. Over 200 children participated and the event raised $3,000. This will enable us to help more local children with cancer, sickle cell and other blood disorders.

NJSA 04, in conjunction with Tab Ramos Soccer Programs is offering a unique opportunity to travel and play in Spain and Peru. This will be a tremendous sporting and cultural experience.
Rosters will be limited to 16 players per team. The trip will be offered as a first come first serve basis.
All NJSA 04 players interested in participating should contact Armando Tarazona at ATarazona@tabramos.com and their coaches.  All players from outside the academy will be selected by tryout.
 
Spain: (August 11th through the 21th)

* Spain is rich in soccer tradition from 2010 World Cup Champs and 2008 European Champs.  Spain is a great choice for summer 2012.

*Peru is a great soccer development country and in the 70s it was known as one of the top 20 counties in the world of that decade. Peru is one of only 5 countries to have won Copa America.
*** Our teams travelled to Peru in 2011 & 2010 and had an amazing experience. Playing games against the best soccer academies in Lima.

NJSA 04 Members:
After experiencing a great trip this year with two of our teams to Peru I am excited to be taking part in next summer’s trips. We will be taking 3 teams with us to Peru and 3 teams to Argentina. I will be coaching one of the teams and it will be a group of players who have been involved at our club since its inception. This will be the 93/94 group, the Gunners. A great way for most of them to play together and what better country to end this wonderful journey than Argentina as its hosting Copa America. A competition Argentina has won 14 times!
Our trip to Peru in 2011 will consist of playing some great games against the top academies in Lima and will be an unforgettable trip just as it was this summer. Peru is a country rich in soccer tradition and beautiful sceneries and all of our boys who participated this year are anxious to go back.
This trip will be offered to NJSA 04 members first.
I truly hope that you are able to take advantage of such great opportunities to travel the world, experience different cultures and see first hand what soccer means to people in other countries.
